What are the side effects and precautions for Tadalafil and Sildenafil?

While both Tadalafil and Sildenafil are highly effective and FDA-approved treatments for erectile dysfunction, it is important to understand the potential side effects and safety precautions before starting your treatment with RocketRX.

Common Side Effects

Most side effects are mild and temporary as your body adjusts to the medication. These can include:

  • Neurological: Headache, dizziness, or lightheadedness.

  • Digestive: Indigestion, nausea, or upset stomach.

  • Physical: Flushing (redness/warmth), muscle aches, or back pain.

  • Respiratory: Stuffy or runny nose.

  • Sensory: Ringing in the ears, blurred vision, or temporary changes in color vision (such as a blue tint).

  • Cardiovascular: Increased heart rate or sweating.

Serious Side Effects (Seek Immediate Medical Help)

Though rare, some side effects require urgent medical attention. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you experience:

  • Priapism: An erection lasting longer than 4 hours. This is a medical emergency that can cause permanent damage if not treated immediately.

  • Cardiac Symptoms: Chest pain, pressure, or sudden shortness of breath.

  • Vision or Hearing Loss: Any sudden decrease or total loss of vision or hearing.

  • Severe Hypotension: Severe dizziness or fainting, which may indicate a dangerous drop in blood pressure.

Precautions & Interactions

To ensure your safety, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Nitrate Warning: Never take ED medications if you use nitrates (such as nitroglycerin for chest pain). This combination can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure.

  • Alcohol: Limit alcohol consumption while taking these medications. Excess alcohol can increase the likelihood of dizziness, headache, and low blood pressure, while also making the medication less effective.

  • Medical History: Use caution and ensure you have disclosed to your RocketRX provider if you have a history of:

    • Heart disease or recent heart attack/stroke.

    • Liver or kidney problems.

    • Uncontrolled high or low blood pressure.
