How Effective Are ED Medications?

At RocketRX, we offer a range of clinically proven medications, including Sildenafil (Viagra®), Tadalafil (Cialis®), and our custom compounded formulas like Daily Max, Rapid Max, and Weekend Max. While these treatments are highly effective for most men, results can vary based on your overall health, the underlying cause of ED, and how you take the medication.

Effectiveness by Medication

Most men find significant improvement with one of our two primary active ingredients:

  • Sildenafil (Generic Viagra®)

    • Success Rate: Works for 70–85% of men.

    • Onset: Typically effective within 30–60 minutes.

    • Duration: Provides a window of 4–6 hours.

  • Tadalafil (Generic Cialis®)

    • Success Rate: Works for 75–80% of men.

    • Onset: Usually effective within 30–45 minutes.

    • Duration: Effective for up to 36 hours, making it the top choice for spontaneity.

Key Factors for Success

To get the most out of your treatment, keep these important factors in mind:

  • Sexual Stimulation is Required: These medications are not "automatic." They work by enhancing the natural physical response to sexual arousal. You must be sexually stimulated for the medication to work.

  • Proper Timing & Usage: Sildenafil works best when taken on an empty stomach, as heavy or high-fat meals can delay its absorption. Tadalafil is generally not affected by food.

  • Correct Dosage: Finding the right strength is a process. If your initial dose isn't providing the desired results, our RocketRX providers can help adjust your dosage.

  • Consistency: For those using daily low-dose options (Tadalafil 2.5mg or 5mg), the medication builds up in your system over a few days to provide steady, ongoing support.

What Can Reduce Effectiveness?

Certain factors can make ED medications less effective:

  • Health Conditions: Men with severe diabetes, nerve damage, or advanced heart disease may find that oral medications are less effective.

  • Lifestyle Factors: Heavy alcohol consumption and smoking can impair blood flow and counteract the benefits of the medication.

  • Interactions: Certain medications, such as alpha-blockers or nitrates, can interfere with treatment or cause safety risks.

Finding the Right Fit

Every body is different. If one medication or dose doesn't provide the results you're looking for, don't be discouraged. A different formula—such as one of our Compounded Max options—or a dosage adjustment may be exactly what you need.
